Tips for Promoting a Local Business

Tips for Promoting a Local Business

You own a local business. Maybe you just started, or maybe you’ve been around for 15 years surviving on word of mouth. Either way, you’ve turned to a Las Vegas digital marketing agency to help with promoting your business. That’s a smart move! Thanks to digital marketing and all of its subcategories of it— such as social media marketing and web design— promoting a local business has never been easier or more affordable! If you own a local business, then you need to follow these tips!

Brand Building Is Just as Important as Financial ROI

When it comes to promoting your business online, many business owners tend to have reservations about making the investment (both time and money) that it takes to build a brand. That’s because branding typically does not have a fixed financial return on investment that you can track. That doesn’t mean that it is not just as important to do! Investing in your brand is investing in the long-term survival of your business and not just a quick return. So spend time building out your brand and doing things that add value to your business in other ways than just monetary value.

Now that that is out of the way, let’s move on to actionable things that make promoting a local business easily.

Invest in a Solid Social Media Presence

Social media can be a lot of fun and it can almost feel like the place where you go to decompress from work and avoid business altogether. But do you know how many customers actually learn of new business through social media? So many.

If you don’t have a lot of time in the day to invest in 5 social media accounts, pick one with the format that you enjoy the most and dedicate a little time each day to creating content, reaching out to your target audience, and reel them in to become customers with a social media presence that they enjoy.

Take Advantage of Local Directories Like Yelp and Google

If you own a business with a brick-and-mortar location, there is no reason that you should not be all over local directories like Yelp, Google, and Facebook. These directories usually pop up at the top of online searches and let customers know what businesses like yours exist within a geographic area. Generally, these platforms will have your business account created and it’s just a matter of claiming your location and your business.

Make Sure That Your Name, Address, and Phone Number Is Current and Clearly Visible

This is a personal pet peeve, but don’t you just hate it when you’re looking for a business and you can’t find the crucial business details like the address, phone number, or even an email? That information should be EVERYWHERE. It should be easy to find. How else will your customers patronize your business if they don’t know how to reach you?

Use Customer Reviews To Your Advantage

To be honest, how many customers do you interact with on a daily basis? How many of those customers have you personally asked to leave you a positive online review?

Why not? Your customers and word of mouth are going to be some of the most valuable marketing assets that you can use! It’s literally another human being vouching for your business saying, “Hey, this business is great and I think you should use them because x,y, and z.”

Collect those online reviews and post them on your social media, on your website, and include them anywhere that you exist online.
